Our team of chiropractors use a bright approach to help you achieve your healthcare goals. With an individualized, evidence-based and patient-centred approach, we work with each patient to meet their goals and expectations through a variety of treatment offerings including spinal manipulative therapy (also known as an adjustment), mobilizations, soft tissue therapy, medical acupuncture, ergonomic and postural advice, rehabilitation programs, and orthotics.

Pregnancy Chiropractic Care and Webster Technique

There are many changes that occur in pregnancy - most notably, a growing babe and bump which commonly leads to shifts in posture and centre of gravity. These changes coupled with hormonal events that occur during pregnancy, like relaxin, can lead to many aches and pain. While it may be common, it doesn’t mean that you have to endure an uncomfortable or painful pregnancy. Chiropractic care is a gentle and effective way to help support patients during their pregnancy through manual techniques as well as stretches and exercises for home care.

The Webster Technique, which is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment commonly used to support the pregnant patient, is used to help improve the biomechanical function of the sacrum and pelvis. Addressing these structures can aid in the management of low back and pelvic pain, a condition that up to 90% of pregnancy individuals will experience.

Postpartum Chiropractic Care

Given the physical demands of labour and delivery, no matter the type of delivery, along with the responsibilities of carrying for a newborn, aches and pains are commonly experienced amongst parents. From persistent low back pain following pregnancy to neck, shoulder, and wrist pain from feeding, rocking and carrying your little one, our chiropractic team is here to support you through the transition to parenthood.

We will meet you where you are at and provide support through manual techniques as well as breast/chest/bottle feeding postural advice, lifting techniques, stretches, exercises and aids to use to care for you while you care for your babe.

We understand that these aches and pains exist for all parents and caregivers, and so, all are welcome at Bright Health Co.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is integrated into every chiropractic treatment plan. Once the pain of a musculoskeletal injury or condition dissipates, residual weakness and functional limitation to the injured tissues may still be present. This makes the patient more susceptible to further injury.

The goal of rehabilitation is to address overall flexibility and range of motion, strength and endurance, postural correction, balance and proprioception, function and integration of movement of the spine and the locomotor system.

Your treatment plan and rehabilitation program are personalized to meet your individual needs based on the history and physical examination findings. Compliance with your rehabilitation programs allows for a speedy recovery and avoidance of injury re-aggravation.

Medical Acupuncture

Medical acupuncture is a therapeutic method where fine sterile needles are inserted into specific anatomical points. It is used to encourage natural healing, muscle relaxation, pain reduction, and improve function of affected areas of the body. Acupuncture has been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of many conditions, both acute and chronic. It is a gentle, painless treatment option that has few side effects which is why it is commonly used as a beneficial adjunct to chiropractic treatment.

Kinesiology Taping and Pregnancy

Kinesiology tape is a therapeutic tape that is proposed to facilitate support and stability to muscles and joints, improving blood flow, reducing pain and swelling and controlling inflammation. It is an elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive so it will not restrict your range of motion. An application of kinesiology tape typically lasts three to five days if applied correctly. Proper instruction for wear will be provided at your appointment following application. We also offer skin-coloured kinesiology tape at Bright Health Co. in a diverse range of tones.

Kinesiology tape is a safe and effective treatment option in pregnancy. Musculoskeletal pain is common in pregnancy, especially low back, pelvic and round ligament pain. But by adding a few strategic strips of the tape to either the back or abdomen, some of the common postural aches and pains that are associated with a growing baby bump are alleviated.

Pediatric Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a gentle treatment that can help with pediatric musculoskeletal health complaints including nursing difficulties (such as latching), muscle imbalances and spinal health, to name a few. Additionally, as the infant grows, tummy time and learning to hold their head up, sit, crawl and walk are all motor milestones that affect their development - and ones we want to monitor. As your child begins to explore and participate in regular childhood activities, injuries soon follow with bumps, bruises and tumbles. These are all important times to have your child examined by a chiropractor.

At your child’s appointment, the chiropractor will review their health history and perform a physical exam - which mostly includes observing them move and play - to determine the treatment necessary.

For treatment, chiropractic adjustive procedures are modified to appropriately fit a child’s age, size, and weight. Adjustments are both gentle and specific to your child’s developing spinal structures.

Orthotics

Orthotics are an orthopedic device that aid in the support and correction of limb and torso function by providing proprioceptive input.  Proprioception is defined as your body’s perception of movement and relative position of neighbouring parts of your body.

Orthotics are custom-made using innovative technology with a 3D scanner to capture your information with remarkable accuracy. At your appointment, a health history and physical examination, including a gait analysis, will be performed before your scan.

Orthotics are used to treat conditions including: metatarsalgia, plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonosis, shin splits, ITB syndrome, patellofemoral syndrome, knee OA and mechanical low back pain, amongst others.
